Strange hues and a jarring price? Despite the outcry about app limiting at launch, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is still one of the most powerful Android phones available in Western regions. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset provides enough power for gaming, productivity, and multitasking.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Overview

The Ultra’s bigger battery keeps it going without the need for a recharge in the middle of the day like its smaller brothers. The Ultra’s absence of a unified camera module may be both a dust magnet and a turn-off for some. Even so, the images and 8K video you’ll receive from these four cameras remain award-worthy if you’re ready to use Pro mode when the default settings can’t match the vision. Even among flagships, $1,200 for a smartphone is a touch steep, but you can’t dispute the hardware quality or Samsung’s more feature-rich approach toward Android software via One UI. And, with its replacement, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the way, the S22 Ultra is experiencing some significant price cuts.

One UI uses Material You and refines and customizes it significantly more than the Google Pixel series. The S22 Ultra also connects to Samsung’s vast ecosystem, which includes the Galaxy Watch 5 and a slew of Galaxy Buds, as well as special, extra-useful capabilities on Windows Your Phone Companion that allow you to view and manage your phone from your laptop or desktop. It’s an investment, but with four platform upgrades and five years of security patches, the S22 Ultra should last you at least a half-decade if you take care of it.

Having said that, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, along with the other two handsets in this range, are set to go on sale on February 1st, with retail availability following later in the month. We suggest delaying your purchase of this phone unless you find an offer that is too good to pass up.
